About Navajo Water Project
The Navajo Water Project, a vital initiative under the DigDeep Right to Water Project, addresses the critical need for clean running water among Navajo families in New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona. Established in 2014, the project has significantly expanded, now serving over 250 families across nine towns. Despite being U.S. citizens, many Navajo individuals experience severe water access challenges, with approximately 30% relying on hauling water daily. The project features innovative off-grid Home Water Systems, which deliver hot and cold running water to homes currently without utility access.
In addition to water delivery, the Navajo Water Project invests in effective septic systems and supports community-led solutions through the Water is Life Fund. Guided by local leadership, it fosters job creation and offers essential benefits, including healthcare coverage. By raising awareness and resources, this Indigenous-led initiative epitomizes the fight for water equity, ensuring that all families can access this fundamental human right. Through community engagement and support, the project continues to advance its mission for a sustainable future.
