Navigating Special Needs

Navigating Special Needs is a family and school support practice led by Katie Baseden, serving families in New Hampshire’s Seacoast region and offering virtual sessions on Zoom. The practice helps parents, children, and educators address behavioral, learning, social, and emotional needs through practical, collaborative support.

Services include parent coaching for families navigating challenging behavior at home. Individualized sessions help parents understand why behaviors occur, use proactive and responsive strategies, and develop a support plan aligned with their family’s values. Katie also provides direct support for children who need help with academic skills, executive functioning, or emotional regulation, using engaging, child-centered, developmentally appropriate approaches.

For families navigating special education, Katie offers guidance with IEP paperwork, goal and strategy planning, and school meetings. School consultation supports educators through professional development, classroom observation, student-specific guidance, behavior-plan coaching, and collaboration on preventive systems. The approach brings evidence-based behavior strategies together with an emphasis on relationships, classroom culture, and tools educators can use in practice.
