About National Black Child Development Institute
NBCDI is a national organization working to advance the health, safety, education, and equity of Black children and families through community-driven action and advocacy. It describes itself as a trusted partner and a leading voice, focused on recognizing the strengths Black children bring to the world and supporting their well-being, joy, and prosperity.
The organization works across eight essential outcomes and develops culturally relevant, evidence-based resources responsive to the strengths and needs of Black children. Its priorities include food and nutrition, Black infant and maternal health, family, friend, and neighbor care, and protecting Head Start. NBCDI’s work also includes policy and advocacy, research, publications, and efforts to promote systems change.
To engage communities and build a broader movement, NBCDI offers national membership and a Local Village Network, as well as fellowships, including the Public Voices Fellowship. It shares news, tools, and resources, convenes events and a national conference, and invites supporters to learn about its issues, join its cause, and contribute.
