About NBF
The National Book Foundation (NBF), established in 1972, is a statutory corporation dedicated to promoting education and literacy in Pakistan. Operating under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, NBF aims to make books accessible at affordable prices. Headquartered in Islamabad, with regional offices across the provinces, NBF is committed to reviving the joy of reading through various innovative programs, including Village and City Book Clubs, Children's Book Clubs, and special initiatives for senior citizens and prison inmates.
NBF also actively contributes to children's literature by purchasing and distributing quality books to school libraries nationwide, alongside recognizing outstanding authors through annual awards. Additionally, NBF supports the visually impaired by providing Braille publications, including an Urdu translation of the Holy Quran. As part of its mission to enhance Pakistan’s cultural presence globally, NBF donates Pakistani books to overseas missions and universities.
