Modern Psychotherapy

The National Board for Modern Psychotherapy (NBMP) is a professional organisation established to raise public awareness of Modern Psychotherapy and its associated benefits. It provides information about the approach, which draws on resources and methods including current understandings of the brain, hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), mindfulness and session outcome measures. Some member therapists also participate in a research programme intended to support their understanding and practice of therapy.

The NBMP maintains a directory of member practitioners, with details such as qualifications, locations, contact information and professional backgrounds, helping visitors search for a Modern Psychotherapist. It also offers guidance and information for qualified therapists and people in training. Membership is available at five levels: Registered, Student, Associate, Accredited and International, reflecting different qualifications, experience and circumstances. The organisation provides resources and professional policies, including its code of conduct, complaints procedures, confidentiality and data protection policies.
