The North Branch Trout Derby Association is a community organization dedicated to advancing the common good by encouraging outdoor recreation for children and young adults. Through hands-on activities and informal education about the natural environment, it helps young people explore fishing, hunting, and other outdoor pursuits.
Its annual events include a Kids Trout Derby and a Veteran and Special Needs Trout Derby in Forkston, Pennsylvania. The childrenβs derby features stocked trout, fishing equipment and bait, prize categories, and family activities. The veteran and special needs event offers fishing guides, food and drinks for participants and their families, and a fish-cleaning station. In October, the association organizes a youth pheasant hunt for eligible participants ages 12 to 16, with mentors, hunting guides, dogs, a trap range, lunch, and a raffle.
The association also offers merchandise, food and drinks at its events, and raffle tickets, with prizes that may include baskets and firearms. Supported by local businesses and community members, it welcomes participation, donations, and support for its youth-focused outdoor programs.
