The North Carolina State Board of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examiners is an independent and self-funded occupational licensing board. Its main focus is to grant certificates of qualification as certified public accountants to individuals who meet the statutory requirements. This board is responsible for adopting and enforcing the Rules of Professional Ethics and Conduct for CPAs in the state.

In addition to these functions, the Board also handles the registration and renewal of CPA firms, administers the Uniform CPA Examination, oversees the continuing professional education compliance program, conducts peer reviews, and manages administrative hearings related to state statutes and rules. Committee appointments are made by the President, taking into consideration members' interests and expertise.
