About NC Museum of History
Welcome to the North Carolina Museum of History, a Smithsonian Affiliate! Located in downtown Raleigh, our state history museum offers a captivating exploration of North Carolina's rich past. With over 465,000 visitors a year, including 83,000+ schoolchildren, we invite you to discover fascinating secrets and hidden gems from our state's history. Our museum showcases a wide array of exhibits that bring history to life.
From current and upcoming exhibits to online and traveling exhibits, there is always something new to explore. Join us for engaging events and programs, including kids and family events and festivals. Admission is free, and tickets are not required for entry.
We are open Monday to Saturday from 9 a. m. Please note that we are closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
