About National Council for Science and Technology
National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) in Rwanda is a pivotal institution aimed at promoting science, technology, research, and innovation for the country's socio-economic development. Established under the law n° 40/2017, NCST advises the government on policies, legislation, and regulations in these fields while monitoring their implementation. The council also identifies and promotes new sectors requiring innovation, regulates science and technology, and manages the National Research and Innovation Fund.
Through various programs like the national research coordination committee, NCST aims to position Rwanda as a global research hub in Africa. Key officials like Dr. Eugene Mutimura, Dr.
Esperance Munganyinka, and Dr. Louis Sibomana lead departments focusing on research, innovation, and outreach. The council's vision is to harness the power of science, technology, and innovation to enhance Rwanda's competitiveness and socio-economic growth.
