The National Disabled Students' Association (NDSA) is a non-partisan national body that advocates for disabled tauira (students) in the tertiary education sector. Our primary goal is to challenge the collective barriers that disabled tauira face within the education space. We firmly believe that our impairments do not disable us; it is the societal barriers imposed on us that do.

Recognizing that tertiary education can often be a disabling environment, NDSA strives to amplify our voices and address these issues. At NDSA, we follow the mantra of the wider disability movement: Nothing About Us Without Us. We believe in the importance of inclusive representation and ensuring that disabled students have a seat at the table.

Disability is a complex and diverse phenomenon that encompasses various forms of impairment, including physical, mental health, psychological, learning, sensory, neurodiversity, and chronic illness. Our association champions the rights and well-being of individuals within the Deaf community as well. Through our advocacy work, resources, and partnerships, NDSA aims to create a more inclusive and accessible environment for disabled students in tertiary education.
