About NEA Philippines
NEA Philippines is a government agency dedicated to rural electrification and development in the country. As the National Electrification Administration, NEA works in collaboration with Electric Cooperatives (ECs) and Multi-Sectoral Organizations (MCOs) to ensure reliable and accessible electricity in rural areas. NEA offers a range of products and services to support its mission.
One of their key offerings is loan assistance to ECs, with a total of PHP560. 66 million provided as of June 2023. These loans help ECs fund their capital expenditure projects and improve their operations.
In addition, NEA recently signed a Tripartite Agreement with beneficiary ECs and regional associations to address the metering situation in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. This agreement aims to resolve issues related to electricity metering and ensure accurate billing for consumers. Furthermore, NEA has amended its Code of Governance for ECs to allow EC Directors to hold board seats in other agencies or institutions, expanding their opportunities for involvement in the industry.
