NEAR LAB

The Next-Generation ERAU Applied Research (NEAR) lab, situated at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach campus, is a cutting-edge research and development facility committed to advancing aerospace and aviation technologies. NEAR collaborates with faculty, staff, and students, while also providing consulting services to private sector clients and government entities.

Specializing in unmanned aircraft systems, NEAR is developing the Gale, a UAS designed for hurricane research, equipped with sensors to gather crucial data from within storm conditions. The lab also plays a vital role in the FAA's NextGen initiatives, offering engineering support and testing new airspace technologies.

With a robust platform for simulation and modeling, NEAR conducts in-depth research incorporating human-in-the-loop simulations and advanced software tools for air traffic management analysis. Additionally, NEAR's innovative applications, such as the Electronic Flight Bag and iEMID app, provide real-time situational awareness for aviation professionals.
