The Nederlandse Vuurwerkbond (NVB) is an independent, nonprofit Dutch organization representing associations involved in fireworks. It advocates for the safe and responsible use of fireworks, with consideration for people, animals, and the environment. The bond supports the continued availability of legal consumer fireworks, including Category F1 and F2 products, which it sees as part of New Year’s Eve celebrations and an alternative to illegal fireworks.
The NVB argues that a general ban on consumer fireworks could make it harder for fireworks associations to obtain legal products and may encourage illegal sales and use. It also believes that fireworks-related risks can be addressed through responsible practices rather than a blanket prohibition. As an example, the organization points to private fireworks displays in the municipality of Nieuwveen, which it says have had positive results for more than 15 years. Through its website, the NVB shares information about its work, provides opportunities to join, and offers videos, media coverage, and contact details.
