Ned's Nesting Boxes

Ned’s Nesting Boxes is a small, hands-on business making bird nesting boxes and related items in Sullivan, Missouri, since 2004. Run by Steve, known as Ned, the business draws on his long-standing interest in birding and practical experience monitoring bluebird trails. Steve and his wife, Ann, are members of the Missouri Bluebird Society and the North American Bluebird Society. He has built more than 20 types of nesting boxes and has contributed observations and photographs to Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s NestWatch program for over a decade.

The product range includes boxes such as a Carolina wren nesting box, made from rough-cut native Missouri short-leaf pine, with drainage and ventilation holes, a hinged front for observation, and mounting instructions. Ned’s also makes an outhouse-style nesting box and carpenter bee traps, with a lure recipe included. The business offers distinctive bluebird plaques crafted from retired nesting boxes, decorated with handmade clay bluebirds; shipping is available for these plaques.
