The Northeast Florida Astronomical Society (NEFAS) is an organization dedicated to supporting public education and the astronomical community in Jacksonville and surrounding areas. It welcomes people interested in astronomy, from curious members of the public to active observers, and invites everyone to take part in its events and activities.

NEFAS organizes public stargazing sessions, including events at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, where visitors can view stars, planets, the Moon, and other celestial objects. Members can also attend general meetings, often held in partnership with the University of North Florida’s Physics and Astronomy Department, and join dark-sky observing sessions scheduled around the lunar cycle. The society shares member-submitted astrophotography through its online gallery and provides astronomy resources, observing information, and an events calendar.

People can support NEFAS by becoming members, making one-time or recurring donations, or exploring corporate sponsorship. The society also offers opportunities to request NEFAS participation at events and provides branded merchandise.
