Neibo

Neibo is a Belgian cooperative mobile telecommunications operator offering GSM subscriptions to individuals and professionals. Its plans are designed around different usage needs: Mix combines data, calls and text messages; Blabla focuses on calls and texts; and Surf is for mobile data. Subscriptions start at €8 per month. Neibo provides service through Orange’s mobile network and emphasizes transparent costs, personalized support and customer service based in Belgium.

Unlike a conventional operator owned by a small group of shareholders, Neibo is owned by its customers, with around 4,000 members. Subscribers can become cooperative members and take part in decisions according to the principle of one person, one vote. The cooperative aims to put mobile telecommunications in citizens’ hands and share the benefits of its business model. Profits are reinvested in local, sustainable and ethical projects and may also be distributed as dividends or rebates. Through its mobile plans and cooperative structure, Neibo offers customers a way to stay connected while participating in the ownership and direction of their operator.
