Nuclear Energy Information Service (NEIS) is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Chicago, advocating for the cessation of nuclear power and promoting sustainable energy solutions. Founded in 1981, NEIS educates and mobilizes communities to challenge the risks associated with nuclear energy, citing historical disasters like Fukushima and Chernobyl as critical motivators for their mission.

The organization argues against nuclear power on several grounds, including its potential health risks, excessive costs compared to renewable alternatives, and the long-term environmental challenges posed by radioactive waste. NEIS emphasizes the importance of energy conservation, efficiency, and the utilization of renewable resources such as wind and solar power as viable and safer alternatives to nuclear energy.

In addition to advocacy, NEIS engages in grassroots organizing, educational initiatives, and legislative action to build public awareness and influence energy policies. Through events, resources, and community involvement, NEIS champions a future powered by clean, safe, and equitable energy solutions.
