Sarasota Jiu Jitsu Academy is a martial arts school in Sarasota, Florida, near Lakewood Ranch at Fruitville and I-75. The academy offers training in Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, American competition-style Jiu-Jitsu, MMA techniques, and self-defense. Its curriculum is designed for beginners and experienced practitioners, with classes welcoming students from age 11 and up. Instruction is led by founder Tom Walker, whose more than 40 years of martial arts experience includes an extensive background in Judo.
Students can develop practical personal safety skills, improve fitness and focus, and build confidence through training. The academy also supports competitors preparing for competition, while emphasizing a respectful, encouraging community where members can learn, connect, and enjoy their practice. Public and private lessons are available. The facility features clean, well-lit, air-conditioned training space, with custom competition mats over a cushioned floating floor. Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, including advanced competition sessions and an all-levels class.
