About NelsonMandela
Nelson Mandela Foundation is a renowned non-profit organization that was founded by Nelson Mandela himself in 1999. The foundation is dedicated to fostering dialogue and advocacy, as well as preserving memory and legacy. After stepping down as South Africa's first democratically elected president, Mandela established the foundation as his post-presidential office.
Over the years, it has embarked on various charitable initiatives, including building schools, HIV/AIDS work, rural education research, and peace and reconciliation interventions. In 2013, the foundation underwent a transformation, focusing on memory, dialogue, and legacy work. Its physical home, the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, was opened with great significance as it was three years to the day after Mandela last used the building for his office.
