Kootenay Martial Arts is a Taekwondo and martial arts school serving the Kootenay region of British Columbia, with its main office and training centre in Nelson and another school in Castlegar. The organization describes itself as the Kootenays’ largest martial arts school and welcomes students of all ages, from four years old, with no stated upper age limit. Its programs include children’s, teen, and adult martial arts, as well as Taekwondo classes for beginner, intermediate, and black-belt students.

Nelson also offers an after-school program for children aged four to nine. Kootenay Martial Arts emphasizes personal development alongside physical training, aiming to help students build resilience, confidence, discipline, focus, respect, and leadership. The school accommodates students as individuals and highlights a low student-to-instructor ratio to support learning.

Training is led by founder and senior instructor Master Dean Siminoff, a sixth-degree Taekwondo black belt with more than 22 years of experience teaching in the Nelson area. Prospective students can arrange a consultation and try a class through a free trial
