About NEMA
The National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization established in 1974, dedicated to enhancing public safety by improving the nation's ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all emergencies, disasters, and threats to our nation's security. NEMA serves as the professional association for emergency management directors from all 50 states, eight U. S.
territories, and the District of Columbia. They provide national leadership and expertise in comprehensive emergency management, offer information and assistance resources, and promote continuous improvement through strategic partnerships and innovative programs. NEMA's focus areas include strengthening relationships with Congress and federal agencies, developing strategic partnerships, tackling emergency management issues, hosting national conferences, providing information sharing networks, and offering professional development opportunities.
With a 5-year strategic plan in place, NEMA aims to support the professionalization of emergency management, strengthen the nation's emergency management system, and ensure ongoing growth and effectiveness
