The Northeast Missouri Humane Society is dedicated to ensuring a lifetime of loving care for animals in the Northeast Missouri area. Established in 1966, our mission is to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty, and overpopulation of domestic animals. We provide a network service to the lost or homeless and educate the public on important animal welfare issues.

Each year, we provide care for nearly 2000 homeless pets, and we work closely with the City of Hannibal to provide a home for strays. We take our responsibility seriously and appreciate your support. If you're interested in adopting a companion or volunteering, please reach out to us.

At the Northeast Missouri Humane Society, we believe in action over words. Our dedicated Board of Directors and staff work tirelessly to find forever homes and rescues for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals and do not place a "time limit" on their stay in our shelter. Only animals with significant medical issues or those that pose a danger to others are humanely euthanized.

We rely solely on the generosity of our friends and supporters for funding, as we are a Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) organization. We are not affiliated with any other Humane Societies and do not receive state or federal funding. Help us continue our lifesaving work by becoming a member, donating, or attending our fundraisers. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of animals.
