About New England Parkinson's Ride
The New England Parkinson’s Ride is a renowned brand that has experienced remarkable growth over the past fifteen years. In 2019, the event attracted over 1300 cyclists, and this year, they are celebrating their 15th anniversary with the "15 Years of gears & cheers" event in 2023. The brand is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease through their annual ride.
The New England Parkinson’s Ride was established by the Woods family, led by Edna, the 73-year-old mother of cyclist Chris Woods, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 41. Unable to find a cycling event specifically for Parkinson's research, they decided to organize their own ride.
The ride features various routes, ranging from 10 to 100 miles, showcasing the picturesque countryside and shoreline of southern Maine. Cyclists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate, and the event has become a cherished tradition for families and cycling enthusiasts alike.
Apart from cycling, the event offers entertainment, concessions, and vendors, making it a fantastic way to spend a day, even for spectators. The brand also hosts a Pre-Ride Dinner for registered participants, creating a special opportunity for socializing and check-in before the main event.
The New England Parkinson’s Ride has successfully raised over $10 million for The Michael J. Fox Foundation, and has been recognized as the largest independent single-day fundraising event for Team Fox in the entire country. With its engaging activities and mission-driven approach, the brand has become a beacon of hope and support for those affected by Parkinson's disease.
