The Neufeld Institute is a Canadian charitable non-profit founded by developmental psychologist Dr. Gordon Neufeld. Its work brings developmental science into practice through an attachment-based approach to understanding children, informed by research and more than five decades of Dr. Neufeld’s work as a clinical psychologist, university instructor, and developmental theorist. The Institute explores the roles of attachment, emotion, maturation, and play in children’s development and well-being.
The Institute offers more than 30 courses for parents, educators, and professionals, available online in self-paced formats and, at times, as scheduled live classes with faculty support. Its learning resources include books, editorials, webinar and conference recordings, free materials, and scientific research. The Institute also runs language programs that make its courses and ideas accessible in more than 35 languages, and hosts events and presentations through an international faculty network. Its work is closely connected to Dr. Neufeld’s book Hold On to Your Kids, co-authored with Gabor Maté, which examines the importance of child-adult attachment.
