NEUSTART KULTUR was a cultural funding programme administered by the Bundesverband Soziokultur e.V., supporting sociocultural organisations and venues during the challenges of the pandemic. Its aim was to strengthen the sociocultural sector and help cultural activity continue and develop. The programme offered funding through two strands: ZENTREN, for cultural centres, and PROGRAMM, for cultural projects. Grants helped organisations sustain events and activities, cover eligible personnel costs, make practical investments, and introduce new formats, workshops and courses. Examples include improvements that enabled safer use of venues and support for outdoor events and live performances.
Alongside financial assistance, the programme provided guidance for applicants and funded organisations, including information materials, tutorials, videos, online consultations and support with applications and reporting. The website also shares programme statistics, project examples, a blog and media resources, documenting the work and impact of funded initiatives. NEUSTART KULTUR is now closed, and applications are no longer being accepted.
