Newburgh Waterways Center (NWC) is a nonprofit organization expanding community access to the Hudson River in Newburgh, New York. Based at the Ward Brothers Boathouse in Ward Brothers Memorial Rowing Park, the center brings together local rowing and kayaking programs and hosts the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Newburgh Flotilla 10-6 and the Orange County Rowing Association. Its mission is to help people of different ages and backgrounds enjoy the river and the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley.
NWC offers adult rowing for novice and experienced participants, including both sculling and sweep rowing, as well as kayaking programs for beginners and experienced paddlers. It is an American Canoe Association Paddle America Club. Youth programming is part of the center’s broader offerings, though a juniors’ rowing program is not currently available. Experienced coaches support safe, enjoyable participation. To make water access more affordable, NWC directs a portion of program revenue to scholarships. Participants generally need an annual membership, with an exception for drop-in kayaking.
