New Ground Jiu Jitsu

New Ground is a no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in Sherman Oaks, serving adults and children from nearby communities including Van Nuys, Studio City and Encino. The gym welcomes beginners as well as experienced practitioners, with training options designed for different starting points. Adult programs include Fundamentals, All Levels and Advanced classes, alongside a structured course for people new to jiu-jitsu. Beginners receive a private lesson before their first class, and the school pairs newcomers with an experienced training partner. For children ages 4–13, Grounders classes teach jiu-jitsu and include the Bully Shield program.

New Ground offers more than 30 classes a week across seven days, plus private lessons, open mats, showers and merchandise. Its introductory First 30 program costs $100 and includes two classes per week for 30 days, a rashguard and, for beginners, a private lesson. Students who attend all eight classes receive a $100 account credit. The school also provides a free starter video to help prospective students understand what to expect before attending.
