New World Shotokan

New World Shotokan Karate South Africa is a highly disciplined organization dedicated to the traditional practice and development of Shotokan karate. Its instruction brings together established karate principles and philosophy with modern, sport-oriented competition training. The organization places particular emphasis on teaching children, offering a comprehensive approach that extends beyond physical techniques to the study of karate’s wider practice and values.

Training covers effective self-defence and the techniques associated with traditional karate. Alongside kicks, punches and blocks, students learn about throwing techniques, strangleholds and joint locks, including applications found in kata. This reflects the organization’s view of karate as an all-encompassing fighting system that can address situations beyond standing combat.

New World Shotokan Karate is governed by a Shihankai of high-ranking, licensed instructors, supported by other black belt instructors. Its instructors are described as long-serving and committed to developing and promoting the organization. The website provides information about the Shihankai and dan grades, as well as a registration option and contact details for those interested in learning more.
