New York Gravestone

The New York Gravestone Photo Project is a dedicated initiative focused on preserving the rich history of New York's cemeteries through the digital archiving of gravestone images. With a vast collection of over 90,000 gravestone photo records, the project aims to capture and maintain the inscriptions of gravestones that are increasingly becoming difficult to read over time. This valuable resource is designed to assist genealogical researchers and families in tracing their lineage and honoring their ancestors.

Users can easily search for gravestone photos, browse by cemetery, and even submit their own photographs to contribute to the project. By promoting volunteer participation, the New York Gravestone Photo Project encourages individuals to help document the final resting places of New York’s citizens. This initiative not only preserves important historical records but also fosters a sense of community among those interested in genealogy and ancestral research.

For those keen to engage in this meaningful project, there are opportunities to volunteer and make a lasting impact
