Next Generation Shipyards is a Dutch shipbuilding company based in Lauwersoog, combining craftsmanship with advanced technology to create specialist workboats. It designs and builds vessels up to 40 metres long, offering both its own designs and fully customised, one-off projects. Its portfolio includes crew tender vessels for the offshore wind industry, pilot boats, specialist survey and research vessels, water taxis, and autonomous craft. The company serves private clients and government-owned organisations.
The shipyard manages the entire construction process in-house, including commissioning, and provides services from design through maintenance. This integrated approach supports efficient, dependable vessels. Innovation is central to its work, with a focus on autonomous navigation and fossil-free operation.
Sustainability guides both vessel design and shipyard operations. Next Generation Shipyards aims to reduce environmental impact through lower fuel use, renewable energy, long-lasting vessels, and reusable materials. Its Lauwersoog facility is energy-positive, powered by green energy and solar panels. The company also supports regional nature and environmental initiatives, and shares news about its projects, events, and career opportunities.
