About NextStep HVAC
Next Step Heating & Cooling is a family-owned, Skokie-based HVAC contractor serving Chicago’s North Shore since 2001. The company specializes in designing and installing high-efficiency comfort systems, particularly for older homes with architectural constraints such as plaster walls, limited access, and existing radiators. Its services include small-duct retrofits, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, geothermal systems, central air conditioning, indoor air quality solutions, radiant heating, boilers, furnaces, and snowmelt systems. Next Step also provides HVAC service and maintenance, with emergency service available.
Rather than simply replacing equipment, the company assesses each home’s needs using Manual J load calculations and field measurements. It considers airflow, ductwork, controls, insulation, and electrical capacity, then commissions systems and verifies their operation. Next Step works with products and systems from brands including Unico, SpacePak, Mitsubishi, Bosch, and ClimateMaster. It is a ComEd Energy Efficiency Service Provider and a member of the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois. The company also cites a BBB A+ rating and BuildZoom recognition, and offers online booking and consultations.
