NFAP, the Norwegian Association for Addiction Psychology, is a professional interest association affiliated with the Norwegian Psychological Association. It is open to all members of that association and brings together professionals interested in psychological approaches to addiction and substance-use disorders. NFAP shares professional information and organizes conferences and other educational events for people working in the field.
Its conference program addresses evidence-informed psychological interventions in specialist substance-use treatment, known in Norway as TSB. The 2027 conference, scheduled for 15–16 March in Oslo, features contributions on approaches including acceptance and commitment therapy, mentalization-based treatment, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy. Speakers include psychologists, psychiatrists, researchers, and clinical specialists with experience in addiction, trauma, sleep difficulties, and co-occurring mental health conditions. The association also highlights research and professional developments, and its conferences have explored topics such as alcohol-use disorders and the broader nature of addiction. NFAP’s activities support knowledge-sharing and continuing professional development; its 2027 conference is approved by the Norwegian Psychological Association for 12 hours of professional maintenance activity.
