Nadační fond Luďka Pekárka

The Luděk Pekárek Endowment Fund is a Czech charitable foundation established at the request of physicist Luděk Pekárek, who also provided its founding capital. Inspired by his lifelong interest in science, especially physics, the fund supports students interested in physics and the teachers and educators who encourage them. Pekárek was a longtime director and co-founder of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, as well as a committed opponent of pseudoscience.

The foundation provides financial support through grant applications and competitions. Its programs have invited applications from primary and secondary school students, as well as leaders of extracurricular physics clubs. Students can describe their achievements, interests, and goals in physics, while clubs can request funding for equipment and explain how it will support their activities. Applications are assessed by the foundation’s governing board, and awards are discretionary rather than guaranteed. The fund publishes annual reports and information about its governance, application procedures, and personal-data practices.
