About BGN
The National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev (NIBN) is a pioneering bio accelerator situated within Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU). As the first independent research entity of its kind in Israel, NIBN was established in November 2009 by BGU and the de Picciotto family. NIBN's primary objective is to foster the rapid translation of BGU's innovative bio-applied research into tangible outcomes, through successful proof-of-concept and commercialization.
Research at NIBN is focused on an array of crucial areas including Cancer, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Autoimmune and Metabolic Diseases, Applied Biotechnology, Infectious Diseases, Human Genetic Disorders, and AgBio. By leveraging the exceptional resources and expertise found within BGU, NIBN is able to provide state-of-the-art laboratories, research and manpower grants, intellectual property strategy, and guidance, as well as business development leadership and legal services to its researchers. Located within BGU's main campus in Beer-Sheva, NIBN combines the innovative spirit of academia with a commitment to excellence in scientific research, creating an environment that encourages groundbreaking ideas.
