About Nichols House Museum
Nichols House Museum is a historic house museum in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, welcoming visitors to explore an 1804 townhouse and the stories of the Nichols family. Its interpretation focuses on the lives, work, and interests of Rose, Marian, and Margaret Nichols, while connecting their experiences to women’s history, decorative arts, and everyday life in late 19th- and early 20th-century Boston.
The museum offers guided tours Tuesday through Sunday, along with group visits, public programs, special events, and seasonal activities. Its calendar includes talks, neighborhood walking tours, family-friendly events, and the annual Beacon Hill Holiday House Tour. Visitors can also engage with the Nichols family collection, archives, exhibitions, and research and publications.
Located at 55 Mount Vernon Street, the museum provides an educational and cultural resource for residents and visitors interested in Boston’s history and historic homes. Supporters can contribute through donations, membership, or the Patron Program, helping fund programming, conservation, and the care of the house and its collections.
