NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) is the world’s first multi-sovereign venture capital fund that is revolutionizing the European deep tech landscape. As a pioneer in its field, NIF aims to stimulate innovation and transform the trans-Atlantic startup ecosystem. With a strong commitment to geographic diversity, NIF offers direct investments to startups in any of the 23 participating Allied nations.

Additionally, it provides indirect investments into deep tech funds that have a trans-Atlantic impact. This unique approach creates a massive market opportunity for innovators in Participating Allied countries, offering them patient capital and rigorous technological diligence and validation. NIF's influence extends far and wide, providing market access spanning 23 countries and their respective ecosystems.

With initial cheque sizes of up to EUR 15 million, NIF leads early-stage investments that cater to the specific needs and timelines of deep tech innovators. Furthermore, NIF's extensive network, which includes nearly 90 NATO-affiliated test centers and over 6,000 Allied scientists, enables thorough pressure-testing of solutions. NIF operates with principles rooted in responsible use and is aligned with NATO's frameworks for gender equality, climate security, and Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) elements.

It also collaborates closely with its sister initiative, the Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), to create an innovative pipeline and support talent and technology development. Through grants and exposure opportunities, DIANA's participants are further connected to NIF, opening doors to potential funding. Together, DIANA and NIF envision a more peaceful and sustainable future by bridging the gap between the public and private sectors.
