@nigatomgovng is the brand of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC). As the national focal agency, NAEC is responsible for the development and promotion of atomic energy in Nigeria for peaceful purposes. Established in 1976, NAEC became fully operational in 2006 under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.

In 2011, it was reconstituted as an independent Commission operating within the Presidency. NAEC's main function is to develop the framework and technical pathway for exploring and harnessing atomic energy in Nigeria. It aims to diversify the country's electricity generation base by including nuclear power plants alongside traditional sources.

NAEC is also involved in the peaceful applications of nuclear technology in various sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, water resources management, industry, and environmental management. The Commission carries out research, constructs and maintains nuclear installations, advises the Federal Government on atomic energy matters, and collaborates with international organizations. Moreover, NAEC focuses on capacity building and infrastructure development in nuclear technology through training programs and partnerships with universities and institutions.
