Nikolaikirche Leipzig

St. Nikolai Leipzig is an Evangelical Lutheran congregation serving Leipzig’s eastern city centre and the Neustadt-Neuschönefeld district. Rooted in the life of the city, the community welcomes people to worship, explore faith and take part in activities for all ages. Its two churches are St. Nicholas Church, a historic city and parish church, and the Church of the Holy Cross in Neustadt-Neuschönefeld.

The congregation offers regular Sunday services, seasonal worship, sermons, prayer gatherings and pastoral rites including baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals. Its programme also includes faith courses, groups for children, families, young people and adults, and social work in eastern Leipzig. Music is central to community life, with choirs, ensembles, organ services, concerts and events connected with J. S. Bach. Visitors can attend church and organ tours, tower visits, exhibitions and other cultural events. The congregation also runs a kindergarten and family café, and provides a bookshop and online shop for books, postcards and tickets. Through community partnerships, volunteer opportunities and donations, it supports its churches and local initiatives.
