Nine Ships 1825 Inc. is a community-focused organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Peter Robinson Emigration of 1825. This government-sponsored initiative brought nearly 2,000 Irish settlers to Canada, helping shape the community now known as Nogojiwanong-Peterborough and its surrounding region. The organization commemorates the settlers’ journeys, settlement experiences, and lasting heritage, while recognizing the resilience and collaboration that continue to influence local identity.

Its website serves as a research and learning resource, offering historical accounts, archival information, a ships’ list, mapped journey and settlement tools, and a GIS story map. Visitors can explore publications, historical commemorations, monuments and sites, photo galleries, newsletters, blogs, and media coverage. Nine Ships 1825 Inc. also shares event information and community resources, including bicentennial programs and regional heritage links. Through events, partnerships, and public outreach, it invites people to learn, connect, volunteer, donate, and help sustain this chapter of Irish and Canadian history. The organization’s work brings historical material together with opportunities for community participation and remembrance.
