The 9th Seat is a rowing education and development brand founded by U. S. rowing coxswain Mary Whipple after the 2008 Olympics.
Drawing on her experience as a three-time Olympic medal winner with the U. S. Women’s Rowing Team, Whipple created the organization to share resources that help coxswains and rowers build their skills and succeed.
The 9th Seat offers coxswain camps and clinics featuring training tips, practical information, feedback, and other learning resources for developing athletes. Programs include a Coxswain Leadership Camp, camp registration and FAQs, and an online clinic for the Head of the Charles. The brand also provides small-group coaching, with a dedicated registration option, and accepts inquiries about speaking engagements.
