The Kioi Hall Chamber Orchestra, established in April 1995, serves as a prominent two-string ensemble based in the Kioi Hall, located in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The hall features two unique performance spaces: an 800-seat classical hall and a 250-seat hall dedicated to traditional Japanese music. Known for its exceptional musicianship, the orchestra comprises distinguished instrumentalists and leading soloists who excel in their craft.
Under the artistic leadership of its first music advisor and chief conductor, Tadaaki Otaka, the orchestra cultivated a reputation for precise construction and rich expressiveness in performances across a diverse repertoire, spanning from Baroque to contemporary works. The ensemble actively engages in numerous performances throughout Japan, showcasing its artistry in venues from Hokkaido to Kyushu. With a commitment to nurturing future talent, the orchestra also focuses on supporting young musicians and conductors.
In 2017, it was renamed the Kioi Hall Chamber Orchestra, reflecting its evolving identity and dedication to innovative music-making
