Нить поколений is a free digital registry of graves and family history in Russia, designed to help people find burial places and preserve memories across generations. Its searchable database includes more than 500,000 burial records across over 477 cemeteries. Users can search by surname, explore locations on a map, view GPS coordinates and photographs, and plan a route to a grave. The site also highlights popular cemeteries and recently added records, and invites visitors to contribute information to help expand the registry.

Beyond grave searches, Nить поколений offers tools for building a family tree. Users can record family connections, collect stories, and store photographs and documents in one place, with the option to share them with relatives. The website also provides guides and instructions, including information about funeral traditions in several religious communities, and offers software for cemeteries. By bringing cemetery records and family-history resources together, the project supports practical visits to places of remembrance while helping families organize and share their heritage.
