About NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness
The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) is a state government agency focused on helping protect New Jersey residents and visitors by strengthening security, preparedness, and resilience. It provides information and resources on the state’s evolving threat landscape, including cybersecurity risks, domestic and foreign terrorist threats, disinformation, and unmanned aircraft systems. The office also supports suspicious activity reporting and offers tools such as facility self-assessments, vulnerability assessment requests, emergency action planning resources, and safety guidance for schools and houses of worship.
NJOHSP administers state and federal security grant programs for eligible organizations, including nonprofit security, reproductive health security, cybersecurity, and counter-drone initiatives. Its training services include courses, events, and learning resources for public safety and emergency management stakeholders. The agency also coordinates initiatives such as New Jersey Shield, the Hometown Security Initiative, and the Interfaith Advisory Council, and provides bleeding control kits to houses of worship and religious schools.
