About National Museum of Industrial History
The National Museum of Industrial History in Bethlehem, PA, is a brand committed to preserving America's rich industrial heritage. Housed within a 100-year-old former Bethlehem Steel facility on the largest private brownfield in America, this museum showcases exciting exhibits and engaging programs that delve into our nation's industrial past. The museum's story began with the largest private brownfield project in the country, which led to the idea of repurposing 19th and 20th century steel mill buildings to exhibit industrial artifacts.
Supported by the Smithsonian Institution and the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, the National Museum of Industrial History proudly displays almost one hundred machines from the Smithsonian's 1876 collection, alongside textile machinery, iron and steel objects, and historical artifacts related to the propane industry. Additionally, the museum continues to expand its collection through acquisitions from individuals and institutions worldwide. With a vision to unite America's industrial achievements and honor its workers, innovators, and entrepreneurs, the National Museum of Industrial History portrays how industry shaped America's rise as a global power.
By highlighting the stories of people, machines, and ideas, NMIH forges a connection between the industrial past and today's innovations to inspire future visionaries
