NMOSD-foreningen is a Norwegian patient association for people living with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD, also known as NMO), MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), and related rare conditions, as well as their family members and other supporters. These autoimmune neurological disorders may resemble multiple sclerosis but involve different disease mechanisms, making accurate diagnosis important for appropriate care.
The association provides information about NMOSD and MOGAD, treatment, rehabilitation, and related diagnoses, and directs visitors to resources from established health organisations and specialist communities. It offers a place for support, connection, and sharing experiences, and welcomes people with conditions such as ADEM, CRION, Schilder’s disease, Susac syndrome, and GFAP astrocytopathy.
NMOSD-foreningen works to promote timely diagnosis, suitable treatment and follow-up, equitable access to care across Norway, and better availability of expertise, rehabilitation, and support for coping. It also advocates for more knowledge and research, improved disease registration, and access to new treatment options.
