The National Nutrition Council, established under the virtue of Presidential Decree 491 in 1974, is the country’s highest policy-making and coordinating body on nutrition. The Council works towards addressing hunger and all forms of malnutrition through the formulation and coordination of policies and strategies on nutrition. As a Council, a Governing Board, composed of 10 national government agencies and 3 private sector representatives appointed by the President, is mandated to formulate and approve policies and guidelines on nutrition, while the NNC Secretariat exec % utes, disseminates, and coordinates such policies and guidelines, among others.
