Noordwesthoekrit

Vereniging Noordwesthoek Federatie is the organisation behind the Noordwesthoekrit, a long-running natural-ice skating event based in the Steenwijk area of the Netherlands. The 85-kilometre route has been held as a recreational tour since 1942 and is one of the oldest of the country’s eleven classic natural-ice skating tours. The event also has a competitive history: the Noordwesthoekrit race has been held since 1946, although its most recent edition was in 1996, won by Jan Bakker of Wijnjewoude.

The federation offers both the recreational skating tour and the associated race, and provides information about the route, the event’s origins and history, and its organisation. Participation in the tour is limited to 6,000 skaters, with registration available only through the Noordwesthoekrit e-ticketing system. The organisation also shares news and updates relevant to the event and the regional skating season. Vereniging Noordwesthoek Federatie is registered in Giethoorn, Overijssel, and publishes participation conditions, privacy information and a disclaimer on its website.
