Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, is a premier international research organization dedicated to advancing the field of theoretical physics. Founded in 1957 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Nordita fosters collaboration among the Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—through a diverse range of research areas, including astrophysics, astroparticle physics, condensed matter physics, high-energy physics, and cosmology.
Since relocating to Stockholm in 2007, Nordita has become an integral part of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, currently based at the Albano Campus. The institute organizes numerous scientific programs, conferences, workshops, and schools, facilitating knowledge exchange and training for researchers at all levels. It also publishes significant research findings and supports Nordic Quantum Education initiatives.
Nordita's mission is to strengthen theoretical physics research and education in the Nordic region while maintaining high scientific standards through rigorous evaluations and collaborative governance.
