About Hugo Ahlenius
Hugo Ahlenius founded Nordpil in November 2008 to offer expertise in geography and visual communication. Nordpil, which means north arrow in Swedish, specializes in freelancing and consulting services in map design, cartography, illustrations, and geographic information systems (GIS). Their team has gained experience and skills through previous work at the office of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in Norway, UNEP/GRID-Arendal, as well as studies at Uppsala University in Sweden and the University of Washington in the USA.
Nordpil provides customized map design solutions, including interactive and thematic maps using WMS and ArcIMS technologies. They also offer training in visual communication and map-making techniques. In addition, Nordpil is committed to environmental sustainability, ethics, transparency, and openness.
