Norsalva

Norsalva is an association dedicated to protecting human life in aquatic environments. Its work focuses on three areas: swimmer assistance services, training support, and the improvement of aquatic safety spaces. For beaches and other aquatic settings, Norsalva provides professional lifeguards, consultancy, and the design and maintenance of safety arrangements. It also develops projects to help improve safety in these spaces, assessing client needs and relevant legal requirements.

Training is a central part of the association’s work. In collaboration with training schools, Norsalva supports professional lifeguard courses and preparation for technical aptitude examinations. Its other courses cover Basic Life Support (BLS), BLS with automated external defibrillation (AED), and paediatric BLS. Lifeguard training is delivered in a blended-learning format, with schedules arranged with candidates.

Norsalva describes its approach as “doing the basics well,” while seeking opportunities to advance aquatic safety with its partners. Based in Arouca, Portugal, the association works with organisations and individuals seeking tailored safety services, professional training, or support in developing safer aquatic spaces.
